What does it mean to learn & grow?

“There is a limit to the breadth of knowledge that people can possess. People can only see things that are perceivable, which means so long as we are alive, all we can truly know is the tale of our own story.”
Quoted from the anime series Sword of the Demon Hunter, Season 1, Episode 10, Jun 2, 2025.
What I really like about this quote is that it reminds us that no matter how much expertise a person might have about anything, all they can truly know is the tale of their own story. No single human can represent every human thought and experience that life has to offer. It’s impossible. It would make you omniscient.
Personally, I’ve learned that hearing from experts can either support, contradict, or enhance your own perspectives and thinking. And that’s one way we learn and grow: by learning from others. Ultimately, we get to decide what information will shape our perspectives. That’s what makes learning and growing beautiful: you get to decide what stays with you or not.
However, just like any activity, it must be balanced or tempered. We must recognize that we have a tendency toward confirmation bias, which means “the tendency to search for, interpret, and remember information in a way that confirms one’s preexisting beliefs or values, while ignoring or dismissing contradictory evidence.” Every so often, I like to question my own beliefs and values to see if I’m fooling myself or that I’m on the path I’m committed to: The Path of Love. Sometimes, I have to recalibrate my thinking so that I align with my life goal: To live out God’s love in thought, word, and deed.
All of this leads to why the Marvello V YouTube channel and the God-theFather.com website exists: to help others on their journey through life. My bias is for those who consider themselves in recovery from substance use disorder (alcoholism or drug addiction). But truthfully, we’re all in recovery from something, so the principles of growth and change are the same. That’s what the 7 Areas of Life are meant to do: to enlighten a person’s perspective so that they might become a better version of themselves in all areas of life.

The Marvello V YouTube channel has playlists for each of the 7 Areas of Life (spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, financial, social, relational). I regularly review the playlists to delete old material and update it with current material. The God-theFather.com website contains blogs with quotes and other links to expand on ideas that I’m exploring as a person in recovery. All with the hope that it might help others on their personal journey through life and recovery.
I believe in my heart that something I say or write can help someone. It doesn’t have to be super impactful, even a minor adjustment will do. What matters is how a person takes an idea, a word, a quote, and uses it for the betterment of their humanity. That’s the goal: to infect others with God’s Love, i.e. the love virus. That way, God’s love is spread little by little around the world.
