everything is spiritual

I was able to take a search for white coffee and turn it into a spiritual experience. It started with my nephew Vince, who lives in Seattle, WA telling me and my son James about it. We set out to try some since it was such a big deal in Seattle.

WHAT IS WHITE COFFEE?
White Coffee is simply coffee beans roasted half of the way through and at a lower temperature, giving it a whitish color and nutty taste. …White Coffee is barely roasted and therefore is the most dense and has the absolute highest amount of caffeine per scoop, nearly 50% more than fully-roasted coffee.

Vince found a potential spot in downtown Seattle, and we parked on the outskirts and rode electric bikes through downtown. We went to the place and they had a sign stating they closed at 3:00 PM; we missed it by 10 minutes. Vince found another potential spot in Pike Place (a famous location), in a fancy coffee shop but they didn’t have it. Even the baristas didn’t know where to get it. One guy thought he did, but Vince said it was like 30 to 40 minutes away. That was not part of the plan.

So, we went back to his place to chill. I went to get something for us to eat. The grocery store was walking distance from Vince’s place and there are so may coffee shops in Seattle that I was passing one walking back home. I stopped and asked if they had white coffee, “No, we don’t.” I researched more, but nothing was coming up for sure that any local coffee shop had white coffee. We planned on going to the original location first thing in the morning before we started our day.

We woke up and got started a little later than we thought and decided not to head through downtown for white coffee. We let it go. We boarded a ferry to Bainbridge Island with the intent to eat lunch and then walk around a fancy estate; Bloedel Estates. It started raining while we were eating lunch, but decided to drive to Bloedel anyway. We got there and it was still raining, and I knew it was $18 per person to enter. We agreed to not go in, and so I just started following maps to see where it would take us.

Driving through some remote neighborhoods, I stopped to type in state park and found one. We headed that direction and saw a park overlooking the sound. The park had a pier that we walked down too and we enjoyed a quiet moment realizing we were on a different island. From there we thought we might head back to the ferry, which was about 30 minutes away. We agreed to continue heading further out and loop back after we stopped at the state park.

On our drive, I saw a little sign that said, “Coffee ahead” but I didn’t say anything. As we turned the corner the coffee shop came into sight and a large sign that read, “WHITE COFFEE”. “Hey guys! Look!” We pulled over to have a taste.

It was a tiny little drive-up in the middle of an island we didn’t plan on exploring. As we talked with the barista she shared that there was another ferry just up the road. I looked at Vince and he realized he forgot about the 2nd ferry location. Perfect! We didn’t have to rush back to catch a certain ferry time. We enjoyed our white coffee in the drizzling rain and headed to the 2nd ferry location which was leaving sooner than the one we planned on taking back. Nice!

I was able to take this experience and show my nephew Vince that we could consider it a spiritual experience. We can call it luck, coincidence, or destiny. But from a spiritual standpoint, it was as if God helped make it all come together. It started with a goal, with obstacles along the way, as determined as we were to meet our goal it was elusive. Two of us were researching the possibilities of finding success for something seemingly so small. Then as plans go, it changed. We decided to let our pursuit go. It wasn’t worth the effort. But lo and behold, our goal presents itself before us. Without us even trying. As if it was meant to happen. And it did.

The white coffee adventure = success!

So I segued our experience to show Vince that’s how God works in our lives. He takes our goals and brings it all together seemingly coincidentally. But if you believe in Him, then every experience is a spiritual experience. God’s Hand is in your life in ways you can’t even begin to imagine. And it’s all unlocked first with your belief and then your faith.
