books changed my life

Around the age of 21, when I was a student assistant at a commercial real estate firm, one of my co-workers told me to read the book Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill. I remember my mind being blown away and opened to a world I never imagined before. I highlighted and dog-eared the heck out of that book. Some of my memories include sitting at my college campus just immersed in the book. I’d stop once in awhile to ponder the author’s words and perspectives. My mind was spinning with the possibilities of living a life I never imagined before.

Napoleon Hill’s book changed the trajectory of my life. The Think and Grow Rich book was my introduction to self-help books and the world of self-motivation. I sought out motivational speakers to listen to, and other books that could help me become more than I was at that moment.

I still carry with me little nuggets of wisdom from authors of varied endeavors and perspectives. Napoleon Hill’s book taught me the power of the mind and how intention creates results. I remember Tony Robbins teaching me that our memories become pathways in our brain and they grow stronger every time we refer back to them. Robbins taught me we can change our life when we change our perspective. I think of Deepak Chopra and how one of his books taught me that even our cells have knowledge and there is a possibility we can teach them what we want them to do. And I’d be remiss not to mention the Bible (that I’ve read over 10 times in different versions, and I’m now on my 11th reading) which has taught me what our true nature is. The wisdom of the Bible, it’s many teachings, along with authors who’ve written certain biblical perspectives have shaped the way I view myself and the world around me.

I’m an avid note taker, reader, and writer. Reading for me is like breathing. I can’t go a day without it. I’ve obviously written some of my own books with the intent to help others on their spiritual journey through life. I figure something I say or write will have an effect on the reader. If I’m doing my job well, then a new idea will be sparked in the reader’s mind and maybe it will change the trajectory of their life. Or at the very least, I might reawaken an old idea and the reader will be reinvigorated to continue the work that’s within them.

I firmly believe that my words will touch the minds of readers in a way they may never have thought of before. And maybe, just maybe, the reader will be inspired to search deeper as they continue to learn and grow in The Path of Love. The real goal in all my efforts to write, blog, and do videos is to set a person on the path of love. The world needs more people who are willing to change in order to love themselves and humanity more. It begins with loving the source that is love…Jesus Christ.

“If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing.”
1 Corinthians 13:2, The Message.
